Lupus

MythologyMetricsTargetsStar Names
Lupus is located to the east of Centarus and south of Libra. Lupus is located along the edge of the Milky Way and contains a number of moderately bright stars. There is little specific mythology about Lupus. The stars in the constellation were always considered to be a beast, such as a lion, panther or leopard, but they were not given the form of a wolf until later. The constellation is most often pictured with the animal bound on a pole being brought by the Centaur for sacrifice on the sacred altar Ara, which is located just to the east.
