Hydrus, the Water Snake, is a southern constellation located south of the bright star Achernar between the Large and Small Megellanic clouds. Hydrus should not be confused with its larger cousin, Hydra which is the largest constellation.
Hydrus is the 61st largest constellation covering 243 square degrees and is the 54th brightest. Hydrus reaches opposition on October 27.
