Grus is a southern constellation that lies south of Pisces Austrinus. Below Formalhaut, Grus contains two 2nd magnitude stars representing the wings with a string of 3rd magnitude stars forming the neck. Introduced in Bayer’s Uranometria, its creation is credited to Dutch navigators Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman. Grus has been referred to as the Stork of Heaven from the Biblical book of Jeremiah.
